Iain Nicolson Recreation Centre

Jul. 16th 2013

The Iain Nicolson Recreation Centre in Chryston provides a range of leisure services for local Northern Corridor communities including a modern gym, a hall for indoor sports such as badminton and volleyball, a Dance Studio/Aerobics area, a sauna cabin for relaxation and is also the venue for many children’s birthday parties.

However, last year North Lanarkshire Council threatened to close the centre. Subsequently a passionate campaign was launched by local residents to keep the centre from closure.

In April this year campaigners learned that the centre had been given a reprieve and that new investment would be made in the leisure complex, but concerns have been raised that this is just a temporary measure.

In July, Margaret visited the centre to learn more about the excellent services it provides for their local community.
