General Teaching Council for Scotland

Jun. 28th 2013

The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) were in the parliament this week to highlight a new initiative called: ‘Profession Update.’ The GTCS were asked by the Scottish Government to introduce a scheme of professional review and development for teachers which has held to Professional Update’s introduction. The scheme will ensure that teachers consider their own development needs while ensuring that high standards are maintained.

Professional Update pilot programmes have been launched in North Lanarkshire and a number of other local authorities so that the GTCS can gather information about the practical operation of a scheme of Professional Update and how it will support teachers in the Professional Review and Development process.
